Everything working? One glance tells.

On top it says whether all strings deliver. Below it: solar, home, battery and grid at the moment of the reading, then every string with its watts per module and how much of its peak power it delivers right now. As cards or as a bar chart.

A failed string shows up in every reading.

When a string has no voltage although modules are entered and the others deliver, the app shows it in red. When a string delivers noticeably less than one facing the same way, it turns orange: shade, dirt or a faulty module.

The app reads when you open it and tap “Get Readings”. There are no notifications in the background.

Red warning: west roof delivers nothing although 24 modules are entered.

Every string through the day.

Continuous logging reads every 10 seconds to 5 minutes. Afterwards you see every string as a curve, its yield, per module too, and when it peaked. That is where a tree or a dormer casting shade shows up.

For that the app stays open and the iPhone near the Powerwall, ideally on the charger.

Consumption and self-sufficiency.

Next to the strings, continuous logging records home, grid and battery: consumption, grid import, feed-in, self-sufficiency and the charge through the day. Every reading stays in the history, by day, by week or as a daily profile, and exports as CSV.

Household balance of a day: 16.9 kWh consumption, 183 Wh grid import, 9.1 kWh feed-in, 99 % self-sufficiency.

Your roof at a glance.

Enter the modules and their orientation for every string, and the power of one module in Wp. Then the app compares strings facing the same way and shows how much of its peak each one delivers. Plus the Powerwall with its usable battery capacity.

How it works

Enter the Wi-Fi details
Tesla Support or your installer can tell you the Wi-Fi name (TeslaPW_…) and password of your Powerwall 3.
Read on site
Within range of the Powerwall, tap “Get Readings”. The app briefly joins its Wi-Fi, reads the values straight from the device and lets the Wi-Fi go again.

Good to know

On site onlyThe Powerwall's Wi-Fi usually reaches a few metres. Nothing can be read from afar.
On request onlyThe app reads when you open it, or during continuous logging with the app open. There is no monitoring in the background and no notifications.
Briefly no Wi-Fi internetWhile it reads, your iPhone is on the Powerwall's Wi-Fi. Mobile data keeps working.
Powerwall 3 onlyWith its own PV inputs. Not with a Powerwall 2 or a Backup Gateway on its own.
No account, no trackingThe password stays in the keychain, the history on your device. Error reports leave only with your consent, see the privacy policy.
Several PowerwallsEvery Powerwall 3 has its own Wi-Fi. The app reads the one whose Wi-Fi you enter; strings on further units are not shown.
No guarantee, but supportEvery system is a little different, and Tesla can change the interface with updates. If something doesn't work, write to support; we'll help.
